Brewers announce winner of fan-created uniform contest

At Sunday's Brewers On Deck event, the team announced the winning design in the Brewers Design a YOUniform contest, in which fans were encouraged to submit designs for Brewers uniforms. The winning entry was submitted by Ben Peters of Richfield, Minnesota, and will be worn during two games this March.

It's a pretty sharp design that Peters created, and the usage of the Barrelman figure is a welcome nod to early Brewers history. The Brewers will wear the uniforms on March 22nd in a Spring Training game against the Cubs, and also on March 30th at Miller Park in an exhibition game against the White Sox.

The Peters design will also be available for purchase at the Brewers On Deck event, and also at the Brewers Team Store at Miller Park. This is a really cool idea from Milwaukee, and it would be nice if other teams had more fan involvement like this. The judging panel for the design included not only an online fan vote and representatives from Majestic and New Era, but also Brewers closer John Axford, GM Doug Melvin, COO Rick Schlesinger, and senior director of merchandise branding Jill Aronoff.

Good for the Brewers for thinking outside of the box, and their continual embrace of fantastic uniforms and logos (mid-90s excluded).
