Vladimir Guerrero arrested in Dominican Republic

Former MVP and nine-time All Star Vladimir Guerrero was arrested in the Dominican Republic Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a police officer after a brawl at a nightclub in the city of Bani. Guerrero will be charged with physical and verbal assault of a police officer and is currently in custody. The 37-year-old had to turn himself in to authorities after an all-points bulletin was issued and police were requesting throughout the night for him to turn himself in

Guerrero most recently worked out for the Cleveland Indians in the DR, a workout that he supposedly requested. He and his agent have been waiting for a call from an MLB team, but have said that if one does not come — and it’s possible that this incident will be the cherry on top — Guerrero will consider playing in Japan.

Despite being his worst season in the bigs, Guerrero still hit .290/.317/.733 with 13 home runs in 562 at bats in 2011 for the Baltimore Orioles. Before his arrest, it was kind of surprising there hadn’t been interest.
