The A’s walk off on the Tigers in the ninth

The A's forced a game five with a shocking, come from behind win in Oakland on Wednesday. Trailing 3-1 in the ninth, Tigers manager Jim Leyland went with closer Jose Valverde, and his night started badly. Valverde allowed a single to Josh Reddick to lead off the inning, and Josh Donaldson followed up with a double. Seth Smith was the third batter in the inning, and he also doubled, bringing home both Reddick and Donaldson to tie the game.

After George Kottaras popped up and Cliff Pennington struck out, Coco Crisp stepped in. Crisp has been a focal figure in both games two and three of the series, and was again in game four. He drove a single into right field to score Smith and give the A's a 4-3 walkoff win and keeping them alive in the playoffs for at least one more day.
