Ichiro creatively avoids Matt Wieters’ tag

This is one of the more astounding "slides" you'll ever see. In the first inning of Monday's Yankees-Orioles AL Division Series game, Robinson Cano doubled into the right field corner. Orioles right fielder Chris Davis fired in a laser to cutoff man Robert Andino, who had the rely throw to the plate quick enough to have Ichiro beat by 20 feet. The Yankees' left fielder avoided Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters' initial tag, circled back around the plate, evaded ANOTHER Wieters tag, and slapped his hand onto the plate to score the first run of the game.

First off, what was Wieters doing so far up the line and in front of the plate? Secondly, did Ichiro actually avoid the tag not once, but twice? At any rate, it was a remarkable job by the veteran hitting machine, and an athletic one too.
