Here are the new Astros uniforms

Last week, we brought you an image of the new Astros logo. Friday night was the official launch party for the new logo and uniforms, and this is what they look like, courtesy of Cory Hepola of CSN Houston.

Pretty slick, in my opinion. A nice blend of the old and the new. The shading on the cap logo is slightly different, but the logo itself is the same basic logo as what the Astros used for years throughout their history before switching to the navy and dull gold color scheme of the mid-1990s. The jerseys are crisp and clean with no distractions.

Here's a picture of the uniforms actually on players, courtesy of Maury Brown from The Biz of Baseball.

Houston could have done much worse, and these new jerseys are pretty distanced from the "Astros" name and space theme that the team prided itself upon before the opening of Minute Maid Park and the transition to the "train" theme. Who knows where the team will go for a theme, but the uniforms are a step in the right direction.
