Dugout Digest – Tiger power

Well, the AL pennant has been decided after the Tigers completed the ALCS with a sweep of the Yankees, manhandling them in an 8-1 win and holding their potent offense to just six runs over the course of the four games. The dagger in that game with the Yankees was probably this pair of homers in the fourth inning by Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta. he NL is potentially just one win away from being settled after the Cardinals beat the Giants 8-3 to take a 3-1 lead in the series.

Tigers 8, Yankees 1
Cardinals 8, Giants 3

Where does this leave us? Well, we've got one of the World Series teams decided already, and the second one is on the brink of being decided. With the World Series not scheduled to begin until next Wednesday, we could have some substantial dead air in between the end of the LCS and the beginning of that.

Around the corner yesterday, we wondered whether it was time to blow up the Yankees, we looked at the top 20 playoff moments since 1991, and we took a look at our dream baseball road trips. Today, the Yankees post-mortem will go live, along with a list of five observations from the ALCS and possibly some other fun stuff.

On the slate for tonight, just one game, and that's all we're going to get for the rest of the year.

-Giants vs Cardinals, 8:00 PM. Barry Zito vs Lance Lynn (3-1 Cardinals)

Enjoy your day of baseball, everyone.
