Dugout Digest – Kung Fu Panda

Game one is in the books, and the Giants are up 1-0 in the series after an 8-3 win that was fueled by the Kung Fu Panda himself, Pablo Sandoval. Giants radio announcer Dave Flemming celebrated Sandoval's achievements by going Gangnam Style in the press box of AT&T Park.

Giants 8, Tigers 3

Game two will be this evening, and the Tigers have to be licking their wounds a bit. Their ace, Justin Verlander, was smashed out of the park by Sandoval and the Giants offense, and Detroit is trailing a series for the first time in these entire playoffs. In fact, prior to last night's loss, the largest deficit in a single game the Tigers faced in the entire postseason was two runs. On Wednesday, they lost by five and trailed by as many as seven before the game ended. That's not exactly how things were going for the Giants in the ALDS against the A's and especially in the ALCS against the Yankees.

Yesterday was actually a pretty busy day around TOC, and you missed a lot if you didn't check in after the morning. We posted our World Series preview for the Giants-Tigers matchup. We continued the Free Agent Preview series with looks at the Red Sox, Royals, and Blue Jays and their offseason plans. Also, we looked at which teams benefitted from the announcement of this year's Super Two designations, and had a brief take on the Inland Empire 66ers offering Bob Costas a commentary position. So yeah, you missed a lot yesterday! Today, we're going to continue on with Free Agent Previews for the Mets, Mariners, and Padres, and who knows where else the day will take us?
