Dugout Digest – big names falling

Well, I told you it was a matter of time. And that matter of time came….today. Josh Hamilton signed with the Angels yesterday, just an hour after being first linked to them. Things move fast in baseball, huh? On Wednesday, we wrote about where Michael Bourn could potentially land, and those destinations will be magnified now that Hamilton is off the market.

Two of the top free agent starting pitchers on my rankings (updated yesterday) also appear to be off the market, or at least close to getting there. Ryan Dempster signed with the Red Sox (after being linked to them in the morning), and Anibal Sanchez is reportedly close with the Cubs, but the Tigers can match his offer.

And finally, in one more piece of lovely news to enter your weekend…Don Mattingly thinks the pressure on the Dodgers coming into 2013 isn't fair. I'm sure he feels the same way about his local rivals in Anaheim and their newfound pressure too, right?

Enjoy your offseason, everyone.
