With CC Sabathia and the Yankees trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, and fading fast, Sabathia needed to get out of the inning quickly. After a single by Omar Infante, AL Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera stepped in and hit a monstrous homer to left field to double the Tigers lead to 4-0.
The Tigers weren't done after Cabrera's homer, though. Sabathia struck out Prince Fielder for the second out before allowing a single to Delmon Young. Needing an out from Jhonny Peralta to get out of the inning, Sabathia instead allowed a second two-run homer to make it 6-0. He was pulled after Andy Dirks followed the second homer with a double, and the Tigers still lead 6-0 through five, with Max Scherzer no-hitting the Yankees, striking out nine while walking just one.
