VIDEO: Brett Lawrie falls over rail, nearly breaks ankle

In today's Blue Jays-Yankees game, the injury-ravaged Blue Jays took another blow. Third baseman Brett Lawrie was chasing a pop-up by Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira, and while attempting to make the catch, Lawrie reached over the railing separating the camera well from the field. He lost his balance, fell over the rail, did a flip, and slammed his leg on a support bar in the well. Upon getting up, Lawrie couldn't put any weight on his right leg, and was replaced in the game by Yunel Escobar, with Omar Vizquel sliding from short to third.

Thankfully for the Blue Jays, X-rays were negative on Lawrie's leg after the injury, and all he has is a deep bruise on his right calf. He'll be day to day for the team, who just lost Jose Bautista to a wrist injury on Monday against the Yankees. Losing Lawrie would be another devastating blow, but thankfully, the injury was relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.

The Yankees would go on to win today's game 6-0, with rain ending the game after six and a half innings.
