Perhaps the craziest play of the year

There was so much that went on in this play during Tuesday night's Rangers-Angels game. Texas pitcher Tanner Scheppers throws a wild pitch on just his second pitch of the evening, allowing Chris Iannetta to come home to score. Catcher Mike Napoli's threw came nowhere near Scheppers, covering the plate, and instead veered towards the left side of the plate, where it hit umpire Jim Wolf in the butt. The ball bounced towards the Angels dugout, and while that was happening, Scheppers, tripped over Iannetta and hurt his knee. Then, Mike Trout raced around third in an attempt to score with Scheppers lying down injured near the plate. Napoli threw to first baseman Mitch Moreland covering the plate, and the throw was late, enabling Trout to score…with Scheppers still lying there, eventually sitting up and leaving the game.

…and, exhale. The Angels would finish the fourth inning with seven runs crossing the plate, collecting just one extra base hit over the course of the inning.
