Theo Epstein hasn’t even set foot in the Windy City yet but already the Cubs season ticket sales department is celebrating yet another successful campaign.
You see, some Major League Baseball teams have problems selling out their ballparks, hiring account executives to cold call local residents in an effort to sell season tickets. Such a problem is completely foreign to the Cubs though, who play at the leafy adult amusement park known as Wrigley Field, which practically sells itself to locals and tourists alike. Games closely resemble an outdoor fraternity party from April through September which really isn’t a bad thing because, for those of you who have yet to attend a game at the corner of Clark and Addison, it really is quite a fun place to be.
In fact, I received an e-mail from their season ticket sales department this afternoon informing me of just how well things are going for them, presented in its entirety after the jump.

That is not a misprint. As of right now, there are currently 113,248 people waiting in line ahead of me to buy tickets for a team that went 71-91 last season and hasn’t won a World Series in over 100 years. Folks, that is impressive, and it’s a luxury every professional sports franchise everywhere wishes they had. At this rate, I’ll be able to buy Cubs season tickets long after Theo Epstein’s great great great grandson takes over the franchise. Hopefully by then the team will have raised a couple pennants to join the retired numbers and ubiquitous “W” and “L” flags.
