There were only five games last night. FIVE games. It’s disappointing for that to happen in the middle of May, but that’s life I guess. At least the five games we did have delivered – two went into extra innings, and one was decided by one run in nine innings. I guess nights like this happen from time to time.
Game of the Night: Indians 5, Tigers 4 (ten innings). This was a painful night for fans of both teams. The Indians led from the first inning until the seventh, when a Rajai Davis tied the contest at three. In the bottom of the inning, Cleveland pulled ahead after a sac fly by Jesus Aguilar. In the ninth, J.D. Martinez hit a solo homer off of Cody Allen to tie the game at four and blow the save. The Indians put two on with one out in the ninth, but Mike Aviles grounded into a double play to send the game into extras. But in the tenth, with two outs and none on, Michael Brantley smashed a walk off solo homer off of Al Albuquerque to give the Tribe a big win and snap Detroit’s losing streak.
Pitching Lines of the Night: Dallas Keuchel led the Astros to a 5-2 win in Anaheim, allowing two runs on five hits in 8 2/3 innings, striking out five while walking two. In Cincinnati’s 4-3 win over Washington in 15 innings, Mike Leake gave up one run on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out four while walking one. Stephen Strasburg matched him for the Nationals in the loss, allowing two runs on six hits in seven innings, striking out four and walking one. Mike Minor pitched the Braves to a 9-3 win over Milwaukee, giving up two runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking two.
Hitting Lines of the Night: In the Reds’ win in Washington, Todd Frazier went 3/6 with a homer, two runs, and two RBI. Alexei Ramirez powered the White Sox to a 7-6 win over the Royals, going 2/5 with a homer and four RBI. Michael Brantley was the star of the night for the Indians in their win over the Tigers, going 2/4 with a double and that walk off homer. In the Brewers’ loss to the Braves, Khris Davis went 2/4 with a two-run homer.
Other Games: Nah.
What You Missed: Recapping the last week of baseball action. The Weekly Puig makes its TOC debut. The Tigers rocked Zubaz during a flight delay yesterday. C.C Sabathia will be out until at least July. Marcus Stroman isn’t too pleased at the Blue Jays.

Johnny Cueto and Doug Fister will duel in Washington. Yovani Gallardo gets the nod for the Brewers in Atlanta against Julio Teheran and the Braves. A.J. Burnett starts for the Phillies in Miami. Masahiro Tanaka and the Yankees will take on the Cubs at Wrigley. Hisashi Iwakuma will toe the rubber for the Mariners in Texas. Yordano Ventura and the Royals host the White Sox. Adam Wainwright and the Cardinals welcome the Diamondbacks to St. Louis. Madison Bumgarner starts for the Giants in Denver. Scott Feldman and Tyler Skaggs will duel in Anaheim.
