Orioles 7, Mariners 6 (13 innings). The teams combined for 34 hits and 12 walks in this one. Good god. The Mariners took the lead in the 13th, but Baltimore rallied with two in the bottom half of the inning to get the win. JJ Hardy had four hits for the Orioles in his return to the lineup, wihle Jake Arrieta and Michael Pineda each threw a quality start to begin the game for each team.
Nationals 7, Braves 6. The Nats got seven runs off Braves starter Tim Hudson, but only three of those runs were earned due to a couple of fielding miscues in this game. The Braves rallied back with five in the eighth to make it a game, but game up short. Laynce Nix, Jayson Werth, and Dan Uggla all had three run homers in this one. Jason Marquis also picked up his 100th careeer win.
Yankees 3, Royals 1. Freddy Garcia (Freddy Garcia!) only allowed one run in six innings for the Yankees, that run coming on a solo homer by Melky Cabrera. Alex Rodriguez drove in two for New York, and that would end up being enough.
Dodgers 10, Pirates 3. Pirates pitching allowed 19 baserunners in this laugher. The lone bright spot for Pittsburgh came on a pair of Andrew McCutcheon solo homers. For the Dodgers, Aaron Miles and Jamey Carroll both had three hits, while Matt Kemp drove in three.
Blue Jays 7, Red Sox 6 (10 innings). The teams combined for six homers in this one, with Adrian Gonzalez tying the game in the ninth with a solo shot. The Jays would take the lead in the tenth on a sac fly by David Cooper, who wasn’t even starting the game. Gonzalez had two homers for the BoSox, while Jacoby Ellsbury and David Ortiz both added three hits.
Marlins 2, Phillies 1. The pitchers duel between Josh Johnson and Roy Halladay lived up to the hype, with Halladay going the distance in the loss, and Johnson allowing just the one run in seven innings. The Marlins manufactured a run in the eighth that would prove to be the game winner. Florida is only two back of Philly in the NL East.
Rangers 7, Athletics 2. The Rangers quickly staked themselves to a five run lead before the rains came, and they were able to hold off the A’s afterwards. Michael Young had three hits, and finished a homer shy of the cycle, and every Rangers starter reached base.
Cardinals 6, Cubs 4. Each team had 16 baserunners in this ugly game. A two run single by Daniel Descalso in the eighth would prove to be the difference. Albert Pujols had four hits for the Cardinals, as he’s really starting to heat up.
Reds 7, Astros 3. Homer Bailey shut out the woeful Astros for his seven innings on the hlll, as the Reds staked him to a six run lead over the game’s first two ininngs. Brett Myers got hammered for six in six innings as the Reds put 21 men on base. Joey Votto and Miguel Cairo each had three hits for the Reds.
Brewers 8, Padres 6. The Brewers got eight off starter Clayton Richard, but the Padres offense woke up in the sixth against Shaun Marcum and put some runs on the board to make it close. It’s worth nothing that Brewers pitching struck out 11 without walking a batter. Five Padres had multi-hit games. Catcher Jonathan Lucroy had three hits and three RBI for the Brew Crew.
Tigers 10, Twins 2. Francisco Liriano’s bid for a no hitter in consecutive starts saw him fail to pitch more than three innings. The three relievers following him each allowed two runs, so that didn’t help matters for the Twins. Victor Martinez had three hits and four RBI for the Tigers.
Indians 5, Rays 4. 100 minutes of rain pushed the start of the game back, and the teams delivered with a good one. Shrimp was in order as Kyle Farnsworth remembered who he was, and walked in Michael Brantley in the ninth to win the game for the Tribe. Rays pitching walked 11 guys in the game, which is absolutely dire. Five Indians players walked multiple times, which is unheard of.
Mets 4, Rockies 3. Mike Pelfrey allowed three homers in his start for the Mets, but all were of the solo variety, whcih is the only reason he survived. He also helped his own cause with a two run double that would end up being the game winner.
Angels 6, White Sox 2. John Danks wanted to hide on lucha mask night in Anaheim, allowing six runs in five innings. The Angels 2-6 hitters all had two hits to power the team’s offense. Alexei Ramirez had three hits for the ChiSox, who couldn’t get anything going against Joel Pineiro.
Giants 1, Diamondbacks 0. Ian Kennedy and Tim Lincecum both put up zeroes for eight inings. The Giants scraped one across against David Hernandez in the bottom of the ninth for the walk off winner. There was only one extra base hit in the game, a double by Aubrey Huff.

What To Watch
Phillies @ Marlins, 7:10. Another great pitching matchup: Cliff Lee and Ricky Nolasco. It might not be as star-laden as last night’s game, but it has the potential to be just as good.
Rays @ Indians, 7:05. Two of the three best record in the AL go at it again, with Rays ace David Price taking on Cleveland’s former top prospect, Carlos Carrasco.
White Sox @ Angels, 10:05. Jake Peavy will make his season debut for Chicago, facing Tyler Chatwood of the Angels.
