(Reality TV show producers — make this happen.)
The greatest potential athlete reality show was born today in the form of an innocuous tweet from the account of one Chad Ochocinco.
You see, it appears the Patriots receiver with a larger than the universe personailty has officially raised his flag as a member of Plush Nation.
@ochocincoChad Ochocinco I like Mr. Morgan from the Milwaukee Brewers, does he have a twitter account?
Nyjer Morgan, who also answers to his gentlemen’s name Tony Plush, has taken the sports world by storm with an unfiltered persona unlike any athlete since…well…Ochocinco himself.
It helps that he’s legitimately good at his job as well, hitting over .300 for most of the season and earning a regular place in Sportscenter’s Top 10 with a variety of highlight reel catches.
And as it turns out, Morgan does in fact have a Twitter account, with just over 31,000 followers. Once Ocho learned of this, he sent Morgan a personalized tweet.
@ochocincoChad Ochocinco @TheRealTPlush In some kind of way i believe we’re related. Not sure how but we’re cut from the same cloth in a sense.Much success kind sir
That much is more or less undeniable if you follow either on Twitter or watch their postgame interviews. Both come across as being unhinged and unapologetic, a pair of athletes who legitimately love what they do for a living and don’t care who knows it.
As it would be for most of us, getting a personal shoutout from Ochocinco clearly made Morgan’s day.
@TheRealTPlushNyjer Morgan – T Dot@ochocinco I believe so my great mentor!!! Ur young skywalker has much love for u & best of luck 2 u this year!!!
Hopefully the reality TV gods were watching this brief social media exchange because if they were, they’ll get Ocho and Morgan’s agents on the phone right now to start planning a reality show of some kind.
Imagine the possibilities — it could be something as simple as the two training together when the NFL and MLB offseasons overlap (so for about a month or two if the Patriots don’t make the Super Bowl), riding rollercoasters and flying kites in their spare time. Or the two could take a page from Shaq’s playbook and go through the police academy together, becoming the most hilarious buddy cops since…well ever. Much like Morgan and Ochocinco as athletes in their younger days, it’s an idea that has a ton of potential.
Plus if nothing else, it probably couldn’t be any worse than Chad’s first shot at reality TV, right?
