We like to have a lot of fun here at the OC, and we do our thing ripping on various players and coaches, but tonight, I’m writing a post about a somber happening. It’s being reported this evening that a body found on the property of former Orioles pitcher Mike Flanagan is indeed his. He was 59 years old
Flanagan held many roles in Baltimore’s organization, pitching for the organization in parts of 15 seasons. Post-retirement, he served as the team’s pitching coach for a number of seasons, as well as the VP of baseball operations. He also had three stints as a member of the team’s broadcast crew.
During his playing career, Flanagan won 167 games for the Orioles and Blue Jays, had a 3.90 ERA, and was the winner of the 1979 Cy Young Award. He won a World Championship with Baltimore in 1983.
The staff of the Outside Corner sends their condolences to the Flanagan family.
