Fifth Third Ballpark, home of the West Michigan Whitecaps, in Comstock Park, Michigan is on fire. The Whitecaps are an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers in the Midwest League, and celebrated their 20th anniversary this past season.
According to MLIve.com, the fire started in one of the stadium's suites. No injuries were immediately reported from the fire. Firefighters had numerous issues getting to the fire, and only had one hose working at the time of this post.
Wind was also an issue for the firefighting crews.
Well, this is depressing. The team's owners are vowing to rebuild and play baseball in the spring. We'll have more on this story as it develops.
