Mariano Rivera pitched in his last game at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night, and he went out like only Rivera could. After entering the game in the top of the eighth, Rivera got two outs to end that inning, and the first two outs of the ninth inning. After getting Yunel Escobar to pop out, long-time Rivera teammates Andy Pettitte and Derek Jeter came out of New York's dugout to take him out of the game to a standing ovation from the Yankee Stadium crowd.
Rivera shared long embraces with both Pettitte and Jeter and left the mound in tears, tipping his cap to the roaring Bronx crowd as they chanted his name and everyone in the Yankees dugout gave him a standing ovation. Rivera then emerged from the dugout for one final curtain call to the applause of the fans, his teammates, and everyone in the Tampa Bay Rays' dugout.
