The news comes after an incident earlier last month when announcing a new contract for manager Terry Collins, Alderson collapsed in a room full of reporters. According to the New York Post, he said he hadn’t eaten breakfast and felt light-headed under the lights.
Sandy just had an episode. He fainted but he's ok. He's sitting in a chair and smiling. Wow. Scary. #mets

Just under a week later, it was announced Alderson wasn’t going to be at the GM meetings as he was undergoing a medical procedure.
As Carig notes, the cancer is treatable and Alderson will be undergoing chemo for the next 8-12 weeks. Alderson, who was named Baseball America’s executive of the year following an incredible Mets season which saw the team lose in the World Series to the Kansas City Royals in five games, will continue GM duties per Adam Rubin of ESPN.
