Dugout Digest – all in

The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets have tenatively agreed to a trade that would send RA Dickey from New York to Toronto, continuing a transformation of a Blue Jays team that won just 73 games this past season. Adding Dickey would complete a full-blown turnover of the Jays rotation, with Brandon Morrow, JA Happ, and Ricky Romero as the only holdovers from last year. Aside from Dickey (probably), the Jays have also added Josh Johnson and Mark Buerhle this winter. There's going to be a logjam north of the border that will probably result in Happ being forced into the bullpen after finishing 2012 in the starting five for the Blue Jays, and that is an absolutely scary rotation. However, if the team can't agree to a contract extension with Dickey, both him and Johnson are poised to hit the free agent market after 2013. Talk about going all in…

The market for Dickey was intensified when Anibal Sanchez agreed to re-sign with the Tigers for five years and $80 million, spurning a potential deal he had with the Cubs. Also last week, Josh Hamilton signed in Anaheim, and we talked about just what exactly that signing means for the Angels and the rest of the AL West. Finally, the reliever market continued to act screwy, with the Phillies giving Mike Adams two years and $12 million (with a vesting option for a third year).

Enjoy your offseason, everyone.
