Tim Hudson confirms he’s retiring, homers in win over Diamondbacks

San Francisco Giants starter Tim Hudson has reached the end of his career. Following his start on Tuesday night in Arizona against the Diamondbacks, Hudson confirmed that 2015 would be his last year in the majors.

Hudson’s decision, which he was strongly considering when he signed with the Giants two years ago, came on a great night for the veteran starter.

In addition to allowing one run on four hits in six innings on Tuesday night, his first start since July 26th, Hudson also homered in the third inning.

The homer was the fourth of Hudson’s career. He’s always been one of my favorite pitchers, going back to his days with the Athletics, and it’s good to see him trying to go out on a high note instead of with a whimper.
