Michael Taylor hit a Little League grand slam on a ground ball

During Tuesday night’s Mets-Nationals game at Nationals Park, Michael Taylor hit a Little League grand slam off of Matt Harvey – on a ground ball.

What happened was simple – Taylor hit a solid single up the middle, and it got by an overly aggressive Yoenis Cespedes. That turned an RBI, or perhaps two-run, single into an RBI single and a three-base error, allowing Taylor and all of the runners in front of him to score.

So, that’s one way to turn Harvey’s innings limit into a non-story – run him after 5 1/3 and hang a seven spot on the board
