DENVER, CO – AUGUST 20: Michael Taylor #3 of the Washington Nationals watches his two run home run to tie the game at two in the seventh inning against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on August 20, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. (Photo by Justin Edmonds/Getty Images)

The longest home runs for the week ending August 20th

Giancarlo is still hurt. /grumble grumble/ HOWEVER, some players finally brought the lumber, and while none cracked the season’s longest homers, they definitely made an impression this week.

1. Michael Taylor vs Yohan Flande, 474 feet (August 20th)

This is one of those “homers that doesn’t look like much but it’s Coors Field so holy crap” home runs. You do you, Michael Taylor.

2. Ian Desmond vs Jake Peavy, 470 feet (August 15th)

This is an absurd homer from Desmond. I’d call it “Barry Bonds-esque”, but Bonds pulled most of his homers into McCovey Cove.

3. Mike Napoli vs Joe Beimel, 462 feet (August 19th)

Did Mike Napoli miss hitting in Arlington? Yes. Yes he did.

4. Salvador Perez vs Matt Shoemaker, 453 feet (August 15th)

This was perfect. A dead line drive, went a long way, and…the ideal splash into the fountains.

5t. Josh Hamilton vs  Nate Karns, 450 feet (August 14th)

This dinger from Hamilton is *a lot* like the Napoli homer from earlier – except just a bit shorter, and to right center instead of left center.

5t. Preston Tucker vs Bruce Rondon, 450 feet (August 15th)

When someone with decent power like Preston Tucker runs into a 100 mph Bruce Rondon fastball…this is what happens.

5t. Franklin Gutierrez vs Henry Owens, 450 feet (August 16th)

To hell with where this Franklin Gutierrez homer went – I’m just happy he’s actually playing again.
