We only had one game yesterday, and the final score was overwhelmed by discussion of Matt Holliday's takeout slide of Marco Scutaro in the first inning.
Any questions that Giants fans had about their team after Sunday's loss are seemingly gone after the team got a shockingly good start from Ryan Vogelsong and showed off their bats a little bit. As I said last night in the recap of the game, with Matt Cain starting game three and a rejuvenated Tim Lincecum starting game four, things are looking better for the Giants than they did just 24 hours ago.
In a bit of news related to both NLCS teams, the Reds and manager Dusty Baker agreed to a two-year extension. Baker's Reds were eliminated in the NLDS by the Giants (his former team), and won the NL Central over the Cardinals this year.
Tomorrow, we've got just one game, and it's a doozy in Detroit.
-Yankees vs Tigers. Phil Hughes vs Justin Verlander. 8:00 PM (2-0 Tigers)
Justin Verlander, the best pitcher in baseball, will look to give the Tigers a 3-0 series lead against Phil Hughes, who is nowhere near as good as Verlander or CC Sabathia, starting game four for the Yankees on Wednesday. The champagne might be getting ordered for the Detroit clubhouse already.
Enjoy your day of baseball, everyone.
