What great timing by the Mets. Of course, we’ll have to revisit those standings over the next couple of months to see if that lead over the Nationals holds. But at least Stewart got his moment of joy — a little too excitable to be a moment of Zen — just before walking away from the Daily Show anchor desk.
One fringe benefit of Stewart leaving the show: He’ll have plenty of time to watch his favorite baseball team for the rest of the summer.
