One of the silliest traditions in some MLB clubhouses is ignoring a player after he launches his first career homer. In Chicago on Tuesday night, Richie Shaffer of the Rays hit his first MLB homer, a solo shot in the seventh inning to increase Tampa Bay’s lead to 10-1.
As Shaffer came back into the dugout, he found his teammates huddled up ignoring him, so he did what any rational person would do – high fived and hugged some imaginary teammates.
But hey, all’s well that ends well – once he got to the huddle, his teammates dragged him into the middle and joined him in celebrating.
