Well, this has to suck. In the sixth inning of Tuesday’s White Sox-Red Sox game at Fenway Park, Mookie Betts made an outstanding catch to rob Jose Abreu of extra bases.
Then he fell over the outfield wall, lost control of the ball, and a replay review turned the third out into a two-run homer.
If Betts simply let the ball drop, the play would have had a better result for the Red Sox. Of course, had he not fallen over the fence, the inning would have been over. Sometimes, going all-out can end poorly.
