Sprinklers come on in the middle of minor league at bat

This isn’t something you see every day. During Sunday’s San Antonio Missions-Midland Rockhounds game, the sprinklers on the field came on in the middle of Benji Gonzalez’s at bat…right before Gonzalez tripled down the right field line.

Logic eventually prevailed, Gonzalez’s triple was overturned, and the ball was ruled dead. He’d later ground out.

What a wild situation. Imagine if home teams were able to do crazy things like this to screw with batters – turning the sprinklers on, setting fireworks off, blaring music from the PA. It would be pure chaos, and might be a good idea for future editions of the All-Star Celebrity Softball Game.
