The Washington Nationals clinched the NL East division title in backdoor fashion tonight after the Braves lost 2-1 to the Pirates. Despite Washington's 2-0 loss to the Phillies, they mathematically clinched the division, and celebrated like crazy despite getting shut down by Kyle Kendrick. But I digress. After the game, when speaking to the media, Washington first baseman Adam Laroche had this to say.
Adam LaRoche (who, oh by the way played for the Pirates!): "This is the first time in my life that I've rooted for the Pirates."

Obviously LaRoche is just pandering to the media, but this is one of the dumbest quotes I've seen an athlete blurt out. LaRoche played two and a half seasons with the Pirates from 2007 to 2009 before being dealt to the Red Sox (for a week), and then back to the Braves, who originally traded LaRoche to Pittsburgh before the 2007 season. I'm aware LaRoche is a Nationals player now, but for him to imply that he never cheered for his own team while playing there is pretty low in my book. They paid him somewhere in the area of $13 million over those two and a half years, and he's giving them the cold shoulder like that?
