Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera might not grade out too highly with defensive metrics, and isn't too great of a hitter, but he's had his share of great plays this season. A play in Tuesday night's Padres-Diamondbacks game might be near the top of the charts though. Cabrera fielded a Paul Goldschmidt grounder and took to second himself instead of wasting time flipping the ball to second baseman Logan Forsythe. Cabrera did a spin move while rushing towards the bag, and completed the spin while leaping and firing a strike to Yonder Alonso at first base, who scooped the throw to record the putout on Goldschmidt.
The Diamondbacks would end up winning the game 3-2 to keep the Padres, who are nipping on Arizona's heels for third place in the division, at bay in the NL West standings.
