Josh Donaldson tried his damnedest to save Marco Estrada’s perfect game

On Wednesday, Toronto Blue Jays starter Marco Estrada set down the first 21 Tampa Bay Rays hitters he faced.

The 22nd batter was David DeJesus, who hit a foul pop down the third base line. Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson really wanted Estrada to keep his perfect game going, and flew into the crowd to record the 22nd out of the game.

The 23rd batter was Logan Forysthe, who hit a slow chopper to Donaldson at third. But despite his best efforts, Donaldson couldn’t keep the perfect game alive.

Estrada finished his day by allowing two hits over 8 2/3 shutout innings, punching out ten and walking none. Not bad!
