Sean Rodriguez makes incredible diving catch on warning track

Pittsburgh Pirates utility player Sean Rodriguez, getting the start in right field, made an incredible diving catch on the warning track during the fifth inning of Sunday’s Phillies-Pirates game, robbing Freddy Galvis of extra bases.

Rodriguez isn’t an outfielder by nature. Today marked just his sixth start in the outfield for the Pirates this year, and the 63rd for his career. Over his career, which has been spent with the Angels, Rays, and Pirates, Rodriguez has played every infield and outfield position on the diamond, bar just pitcher and catcher.

This has been a day of great defense in Pittsburgh. In addition to Rodriguez’s phenomenal grab in right, Andrew McCutchen and Ben Revere both made leaping catches on the track.
