CEO Tim Cook: Apple will pay ransom for Brandon Moss’ 100th HR ball

Brandon Moss will finally get his 100th home run ball. And Cleveland Indians relievers will be getting a whole lot of Apple product.

At Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, which kicked off on Monday, CEO Tim Cook announced on stage that the company will meet the list of demands that the Tribe relief corps presented to Moss upon his milestone home run landing in their bullpen last week, most of which asked for Apple items like iPads, Apple watches and Macbook Airs.

Moss actually got his home run ball back, but that’s when he was presented with the expensive, tech-driven ransom list and a seed of doubt was planted as to whether or not the ball he received was the genuine article. Yet Cook isn’t missing out on the opportunity to promote Apple’s line of gadgets and earn some goodwill among baseball fans (and of course, Indians relief pitchers).

No word on whether or not Cook will meet Marc Rzepczynski’s request for a “50-gallon drum of lube.” Maybe Jiffy Lube can get in on that action. That is, unless Rzepczynski is seeking a different sort of product. That’s probably a good, safe place to end this post.

UPDATE: Interestingly, Rzepczynski’s request was erased from the list shown during Cook’s presentation, as noticed by deathandtaxes.
