Rene Rivera slides well shot of second base

Tampa Bay Rays catcher Rene Rivera isn’t the most fleet of foot player in the game today. On Monday night, Rivera did a perfect Willie Mays Hayes impression after Brandon Guyer hit a grounder to Albert Pujols at first base with no outs in the seventh inning.

Oh Rene…that’s not good.

There’s Erick Aybar, just chilling…waiting for Rivera…and there’s Rivera, a good ten feet from the second base bag hanging out.

In reality, Rivera probably slid so early to avoid the throw from Pujols, but it’s still not a good look when you go down that early and the ball is waiting for you.
