Adrian Beltre of the Rangers hit three homers on Wednesday against the Orioles. He homered again on Thursday against Baltimore again. On Friday night against the Twins, Beltre homered for the third straight game, but the homer was part of Beltre's hitting for the cycle. Beltre tripled in the first and doubled in the second to get an early jump on his cycle. A fifth inning homer put him just a single away, and he lined a pitch from Minnesota Kyle Waldrop to right field to complete the feat.
It's the fourth cycle of the MLB season, but the first by an American League player. The other three this season included a pair by Aaron Hill of the Diamondbacks in June, and one by Scott Hairston in April. The cycle is the second of Beltre's career, with the first coming on September 1, 2008, when Beltre was a member of the Mariners. Seattle's opponent that night? You guessed it: the Texas Rangers.
The cycle is the sixth in Rangers history, and the first since July 16, 2010, when Bengie Molina hit for the cycle against the Red Sox.
