Jarrod Parker graphically reinjures arm during rehab start

I’m going to warn you in advance that this video is a bit graphic, and you may not want to watch it.

Oakland Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker, rehabbing from Tommy John surgery last spring, started on Friday night for the AAA Nashville Sounds. This was his fourth rehab start of the year, and a return to the majors looked likely for the 26-year old.

But in the sixth inning, Parker fell to the ground in extreme pain after throwing a pitch, immediately conjuring memories of Dave Dravecky and Tony Saunders (among others).

Again – this video is a bit graphic. You’ve been warned.

Man, I hope Parker isn’t seriously hurt. I really hope this is just a cramp. But I doubt that’s the case – this looks awful for his future career. Parker was described as being in “excruciating pain” and “near tears” following the injury, and those are two phrases you absolutely never want to hear.
