Since its initial release in 1977, the Star Wars saga has taken on a life of its own in American culture. The franchise that takes place “far, far away” has infiltrated almost every significant pop culture medium, including sports.
With the news that the first of three scheduled installments is being released in December of 2015, the hype for the release of a new Star Wars film is building. With such a wide audience, MLB teams around the league have created Star Wars themed games to pair two large fan bases and create a fun-filled night for sports fans and sci-fi fans alike.
Although some teams have already had their Star Wars themed nights, May 4th is officially Star Wars day. It’s an unofficial holiday which celebrates the Star Wars franchise. The date was chosen for the easy pun on the catchphrase “May the Force be with you”—”May the 4th be with you.”
Here on May 4th, TicketNetwork.com created a list of average baseball ticket prices on the secondary market for games where the home team is holding a Star Wars night.
Without further ado, average MLB ticket prices and get-in prices for these games are listed below:
5/15/2015: San Francisco Giants at Cincinnati Reds | Average Price: $44 | Get-in Price: $6

Of all the Star Wars games, the October 3rd game between the Rockies and the Giants has the highest average ticket price at $433.24. Along with the September 19th game between the Royals and the Tigers, these are the two games that have an average ticket price over $100.
There are three games with get-in prices under $10: May 15th between the Giants and Reds, August 22nd between the Mets and Rockies and the September 13th game between the Twins and White Sox. The fans going to those three games will be paying more to see the movie at a theater than to watch a baseball game at the ballpark.
The Rockies and Giants are the only teams involved in multiple Star Wars games.
