DENVER, CO – APRIL 11: Nolan Arenado #28 of the Colorado Rockies celebrates his two run home run off of starting pitcher Jason Hammel #39 of the Chicago Cubs as the Cubs held a 3-2 lead in the second inning at Coors Field on April 11, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. Nolan Arenado’s latest catch is a beauty

The most important player for the Colorado Rockies this season might not be Carlos Gonzalez or Troy Tulowitzki, but instead third baseman Nolan Arenado. Arenado already has a reputation as one of the best defensive third basemen in baseball, and his bat isn’t exactly mediocre.

Arenado showed off that glove on Tuesday night, making this ridiculous catch to retire Gregor Blanco in the eight inning.

And how about Arenado managing to get a throw off to third base to near nab Angel Pagan tagging up? Insane.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that if Arenado has a solid offensive year, he’ll be a legitimate MVP candidate in September like Josh Donaldson was in each of the last two years.
