Chris Archer interviews reporters about his start

Chris Archer is becoming one of my favorite players in the league to watch, and after his start for the Rays on Sunday, he interviewed reporters in the clubhouse about how they think he pitched.

Pretty funny way to change things up. In his start against the Phillies on Sunday, Archer allowed one run on three hits over two innings, walking one and striking out one. But hey, it’s not the stats that matter, it’s all about how Archer actually looked, and he was encouraged.

“Honestly, I gave up a run, but I’m happy overall,” said Archer. “For outing No. 1, I threw too many pitches (37 total, 27 strikes), but I’m not going to beat myself up over a few extra pitches when there were so many executed. Even if they were balls. Quality pitches down in the zone.”

I can only imagine that hearing the same questions after every appearance gets more than a little taxing, so props to Archer for mixing things up and allowing the media to open up a little bit.
