The Astros’ AAA team is bringing rainbow jerseys back

Remember those awesome rainbow jerseys that the Houston Astros rocked 30+ years ago? Well, they’re not coming back to the majors quite yet, but as Big League Stew notes, the Astros’ new AAA team is bringing them back for a theme night this year.

All hail the Fresno Rainbow Grizzlies!

This is nothing new for the Astros, though – the Lancaster Jethawks, Houston’s high-A affiliate, wore rainbow jerseys in 2014.

And the Corpus Christi Hooks, Houston’s AA affiliate, wore them in 2011.

But let’s be honest here – the Grizzlies, Jethawks, and Hooks all can’t touch the original Astros rainbow unis.

Here’s Astros legend J.R. Richard throwing out the first pitch at an Astros game a couple of years ago while wearing that jersey.

Damn. So nice. Bring it back, Houston!
