Vladimir Guerrero would like to enter the Hall of Fame as an Expo

We’re still a couple of years from talking about Vladimir Guerrero’s Hall of Fame chances, but Guerrero stated on Monday that if elected, he’d prefer to go in as a member of the dearly departed Montreal Expos.

The choice would come down to the Expos and Angels for Guerrero. He was originally signed by the Expos and played 158 more games with the club, but won more hardware as a member of the Angels, taking home the 2004 AL MVP award and finishing in the top ten of MVP voting another three times with Anaheim.

When you run into a situation like this, I assume the Hall will bow to the player’s wishes instead of making the choice for him.

The Guerrero Hall of Fame case will truly be an interesting one when it begins. 449 homers in just 16 seasons. Nine All-Star nods. MVP votes in 12 seasons, including 11 in a row. A whopping six top ten MVP finishes. It’s really a tough call, and I wish he was able to stick around for a couple more seasons to crack the 500 home run and 3,000 hit plateaus.
