Jason Heyward is gone after today’s trade that sent him to the St. Louis Cardinals. The general consensus about why Heyward was traded is that he would be too expensive to sign long-term, and he’d leave as a free agent after the 2015 season.
We don’t know that for sure, however. According to Heyward, who wanted to stay in Atlanta, the Braves didn’t even approach him with a long-term contract offer since the end of the 2012 season.
#Braves Heyward said he hoped team would approach him about long-term extension, & never did. "I made it clear to them I wanted to be here."

Heyward confirmed there had been no talks with the #Braves about a long-term deal since Spring Training in 2013

Now that’s a gut punch for Braves fans. Are John Hart and company going to still be comfortable rolling the same crap off of the spin machine knowing that Heyward has said he wanted to stay in Atlanta and that the Braves’ new regime never even approached him?
