Report: Alex Rodriguez admitted steroid use from Biogenesis

Alex Rodriguez is off the restricted list for the Yankees, and of course, he’s back in the spotlight. According to a report from the Miami Herald, Rodriguez admitted buying PEDs from Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch, paying him $12,000 a month for the drugs.

The details from the Herald’s report are damning. During an interview with federal agents on January 29th, Rodriguez admitted to paying Bosch for “testosterone cream, lozenges laced with testosterone, and human growth hormone injections”. He also discussed advice Bosch gave him to beat steroid tests, which worked for a time.

Rodriguez also threw his cousin, Yuri Sucart, under the bus, claiming that Sucart was the middleman between him and Bosch. Sucart pleaded not guilty to federal charges, and will be heading to trial in February. The Yankees third baseman received immunity from prosecution for revealing the details of his steroid use to the feds. Other Biogenesis customers will also not face prosecution, including former All-Stars Ryan Braun, Melky Cabrera, and Nelson Cruz, among others.

The whole report from the Herald is pretty damning, and definitely worth a read. Rodriguez’s interactions began as far back as summer 2010, and began when he wanted to lose some weight after having knee problems. Rodriguez also confirmed the story Bosch told in a 60 Minutes interview about drawing A-Rod’s blood in a Las Vegas nightclub. The story also contains details of Rodriguez funding Bosch’s criminal defense and hush payments made to Sucart.
