VIDEO: Bryce Harper’s first MLB hit

In case you weren’t tipped off on it enough, Bryce Harper made his Major League debut Saturday night against the LA Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

The game certainly lived up to the marvelous fanfare: Stephen Strasburg threw a gem; Harper played as great as you could ask from a 19-year-old kid in his first big league game; and it all ended with the Dodgers coming from behind to force an extra inning where Matt Kemp showed everyone why he’s the name we should be talking about in the early going this season.

But we will be talking about Harper, who doubled, knocked in a run on a sac fly and nearly threw out a runner at the plate. After starting 0-2, Harper came to the plate in the 7th against Chad Billingsley. Harper worked the count full and then unleashed on a Billingsley fastball for the first of what will likely be many Major League hits. If you were watching live, Harper’s first hit may have been tainted by a blackguard’s bare backside:

Of course, miraculous technology allows one to zoom in on the hit, so you won’t be subjected to any butt over Harper’s left shoulder when re-watching the highlight of his hit in the future. That is, unless you want the full moon experience.
