Yadier Molina is only getting fined for bumping Jerry Meals on Friday

During an incident at home plate in the midst of Friday’s Game 1 matchup between the Cardinals and Dodgers, St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina bumped home plate umpire Jerry Meals. Many expected a suspension for Molina, but he will only receive a fine, according to CBS’s Jon Heyman.

The exact amount of the fine isn’t known, but it was said to be an amount that isn’t insignificant, one designed to “get his attention,” people familiar with the situation said.

Molina was not ejected for the small shove, but it caught the attention of higher-ups at MLB, who want to make sure players understand putting hands on an umpire is not tolerated.

If this happened during the regular season, Molina probably would have gotten at least a game. But during the Postseason? Yeah, that’s not happening.
