The Ron Gardenhire era is over in Minnesota after 13 long, mostly successful seasons.
Ron Gardenhire is out.

Gardenhire won the AL Central with Minnesota in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2009, and 2010. However, success in the playoffs was always difficult for him, as the Twins won six playoff games total in those six playoff appearances. They won just won Division Series, a 2002 matchup with the Oakland Athletics. The Twins hadn’t won a playoff game under Gardenhire since 2004.
Fortunes had turned sour lately, as the team lost at least 92 games in each of the last four seasons while finishing last in three of those four years. His dismissal is surprising, but at the same time, I think it was time for a change in Minnesota.
