The A’s finally clinched a playoff spot

It took all 162 games, and the end result was disappointing given their strong first half of the season, but the Oakland Athletics clinched the final American League playoff spot following a 4-0 win over the Rangers in Texas.

Sonny Gray was marvelous in the clincher for Oakland, tossing a complete game shutout while walking none and striking out five. The A’s will head to Kansas City to take on the Royals Tuesday. Jon Lester will go for the A’s, and James Shields will take the hill for the Royals.
