The Dodgers gave away a Babe Ruth bobblehead on Tuesday. It was an odd giveaway, given that Ruth spent nearly his entire career with the Yankees, but he *did* spent 1938 as the first base coach for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Needless to say, Vin Scully had a lot to say about the exceptional career of Ruth, and he summarized that amazing career thusly during the Padres-Dodgers game on Tuesday night.
Scully also had a story about his attempts to get a Babe Ruth autograph as a kid, and the conclusion is something you really don’t hear about too much nowadays.
There aren’t many people that can still recall a story like that. Thanks, Vin.
