The longest homers for the week ending September 4th

We’re getting close to the end of the season, and no one is getting close to unseating Giancarlo Stanton or Mike Trout from either of the yearly charts. With that being said, there were some titanic blasts this week.

1. Alex Gordon vs Cody Allen, 462 feet (August 31st)

Alex Gordon goes into into the fountains, tying Kansas City’s game with Cleveland on Sunday night at two in the bottom of the ninth. The rain came soon after, but this homer was a huge reason those rains even affected this game.

2t. Luis Valbuena vs Jeremy Jeffress, 451 feet (September 1st)

The camera angle on this homer is terrible, but Valbuena nearly hit it to the second section of bleachers in center at Wrigley. Take a bow.

2t. Corey Dickerson vs Ryan Vogelsong, 451 feet (September 3rd)

It takes a hell of a lot of effort to homer into the seats above the Rockies bullpen. Dickerson not only did that, but hit it halfway up the section too. Disgusting.

4. Jonathan Schoop vs Dylan Axelrod, 446 feet (September 3rd)

Nearly over the bullpens at Camden Yards. Jonathan Schoop, stop this chaos.

5t. Justin Upton vs Tom Koehler, 443 feet (August 29th)

Halfway up the section of seats closest to dead center field at Turner. Good god.

5t. Colby Rasmus vs Steve Geltz, 443 feet (September 4th)

Yes, there was no one at Tropicana Field to witness this, but Rasmus blasted this homer off of the bottom of the scoreboard in right field. That’s just gross.
