It has truly been a banner year for awful first pitches. Today, we bring you back to Texas, but a little to the southeast of Arlington. Before Tuesday night’s Athletics-Astros matchup at Minute Maid Park, an Astros fan that threw out the first pitch spiked the ball. And when I say spiked, I mean SPIKED – I don’t even know if her pitch initially hit the grass, or if she spiked it into the dirt on the pitchers mound.
But it’s OK, she got a hug from Orbit afterwards. Speaking of Orbit, look at his reaction – slowly dropping his head as the crowd groans. Perfection.
For my money, she moves ahead of 50 Cent, but still trails Miss Texas in the great “horrendous first pitch” derby of 2014.
